KHCP aims to promote citizens’ health and try sustainable city development and improve the quality of life by sharing information and public policy among local governments.
Although the concept of healthy cities has been introduced in Korea in early 1986, Gwacheon city was the first pilot case that applies healthy cities approach to its practical policies among Korean municipal governments in 1996. Currently, there are several cities which are carrying out healthy cities project or establishing the plan. To help these cities through effective networking, Korea Healthy Cities Partnership has been launched in 2006. KHCP is the official representative on Korea Healthy Cities.
