History

The AFHC started in 2003 for Healthy Cities project as Western Pacific regional healthy cities network is based on global effort.AFHC secretariat is located in Tokyo, Japan. AFHC is In 1980, Australia, Japan, New zealand etc are introduced of concept of Healthy Cities and are revitalized. AFHC is launched and announced Healthy Cities Chapter since AFHC is cooperated with WPRO.

Oct. 2003.  AFHC is launched and HC chapter announced
Oct. 2004.  The 1st General assembly (Kuching, Malaysia)
Oct. 2006.  The 2nd General assembly (Suzhou, China)
Oct. 2008.  The 3rd General assembly (Ichikawa, Japan)
Oct. 2010.  The 4th General assembly (Gangnam, Republic of Korea)
Oct. 2012.  The 5th General assembly (Logan, Australia)

Role

  • Sharing information about Healthy Cities project between Member city and Member city
  • Insisting innovation and implementing Healthy Cities projects
  • Consulting how to process Healthy Cities
  • Extending technical development and inter-sector cooperation and knowledge for global net-working
  • Supporting each chapter activities and strengthening members ability

Organization

The AFHC is comprised of General Assembly, Secretariat, Working Committee, Committee on Awards, Convenor and Chair city of the General Assembly, Chapters.

  • General Assembly

    The role of the organization is to handle everything, comprised of both full members and associate members, It’s duties include approving program, budget activities over a 2year period.
    * As of May, 2013 AFHC 9 Countries, 144 full members, 46 associate members

  • Steering committees

    Policy making organization, Comprised of both full members 12cities and association member 8 organizations, 4years term.

  • Secretariat

    Health promotion/International Health Tokyo medical and Dental University.

  • Working Committee

    Membership Committee, International cooperation program Committee, Partnership development Committee

  • Committee on Awards

    Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion, The chinese University of Hong Kong

  • Convenor and Chair City of the General Assembly

    Elected in General Assembly a 2years terms, will be held Next General Assembly.

  • Chapters

    Japan, China, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia.

Funding

AFHC is funded entirely by Membership fee, Financial Resources and Business income, Shard tax and supported financial, donation, sponsorship.
* Annual fee for membership ($500, commission $25)
